The short version: Trove has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking, and the developer never receives your data. Your files and everything about them stay on your device. The one exception is optional online transcription, which sends a single recording to Apple only when you explicitly choose it (see Transcription below).
Trove keeps the following in the app's private storage on your iPhone, solely to make its features work:
None of this ever leaves your device through Trove. Deleting the app deletes all of it. If you use iCloud or computer backups, your device may include Trove's data in your own backups, under your control like any other app.
When you use Trove's browser, your device connects directly to the websites you choose to visit, exactly as any browser does. Trove adds nothing: no proxying, no logging on our side, no tracking.
Speech is generated on your device by Apple's built-in speech synthesizer. Document text is not sent anywhere.
Trove can turn a recording into text. By default this runs entirely on your device, and the audio is never sent anywhere. For low-quality audio such as voicemail, you may choose “Online” transcription for a specific recording, which sends that one recording to Apple’s speech-recognition service to transcribe it. Online transcription happens only when you explicitly choose it, per recording. The recording is processed by Apple under Apple’s terms; the developer never receives or stores it.
Sharing happens only when you initiate it, through Apple's standard share sheet. What you share, and with whom, is entirely your choice; Trove does not record it.
Trove is not directed at children. Because it includes an unrestricted web browser, it carries a 17+ age rating on the App Store.
If a future version of Trove ever changes how data is handled, this policy will be updated and the effective date revised before that version ships.
